“Enter His Gates” Instrumental Background
“Enter His Gates” Audio Catechism
CONTEXTUAL MEDITATION 5 CATECHISM
What does it mean to “catechize”? To instruct and resound by word of mouth.
1. Because it is God who has made us, and not we ourselves, how must we respond in loving service?
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! Psalm 100:4 (ESV)
2. According to Psalm 100, what specifically does “For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations” tell us about God and man?
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture; therefore, we shall not want (Psalm 23:1) because the LORD says, I am with you. You are my people. You are my flock! (Ezekiel 34:30-31) He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young. (Isaiah 40:11) Therefore, Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord, all the earth. (Psalm 96:1)
3. How do Psalm 119:73 and Psalm 139:13-14 further exhort us in response to “It is He who made us and not we ourselves”? (Psalm 100:3)
Your hands have made me and fashioned me;
Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments. Psalm 119:73
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:12-13
4. By what means does the LORD teach us that we may follow this proclamation of the Psalmist: “My lips shall utter praise, For You teach me Your statutes.” (Psalm 119:171)?
Trinity: passagE impArt communiCate admonisH corrEspond deliveR
Passage–the act of transferring ways; Impart–to give, grant, bestow; Communicate-to reveal; Admonish–to warn, counsel, direct; Correspond–to answer in harmony (The LORD answers our hearts with His Word); Deliver–to free, rescue, save.
5. What heavenly, eternal food do “We are…the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:3b) (Pasture means THE ACT OF FEEDING!) and “He will feed His flock like a shepherd” (Isaiah 40:11) prepare us to receive?
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
EAT my flesh. DRINK my blood. COME. Never Hunger. BELIEVE. Never Thirst.
6. In the heart of tabernacle artisan Bezalel “filled with the Spirit of God in wisdom…to design artistic works…[the LORD]…put wisdom”. This prepared the way for JeHoVaH Mekoddishkem, the Lord Who Sanctifies, to reveal Himself. How is God’s wisdom defined in James 3:17?
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
7. What are the meanings of “LAW” in both English and Hebrew?
From ius- meaning “right (conforming to God’s will)”, “LAW” means “direction; a pointing towards; aim”. The Hebrew letters for “LAW” have these meanings read from right-to-left: תּוֹרָה – letter meanings – ת TAU-seal, ו WAW-nail, ר RESH-bowed head, and ה HE-“Behold!“.
8. What number is associated with ג GIMEL, the 3rd letter in the Hebrew Alphabet, and what are some of the meanings of ג GIMEL?
ג GIMEL=3: The number of the Godhead; complete; divine perfection; perfect witness.
9. From the teaching of Psalm 119:17-24 entitled ג GIMEL, how are we as God’s POIEMA addressed, and how are we instructed to be with God?
STRANGERS AND PILGRIMS,
REST (Lord, You deal bountifully with us, so we may love and keep Your Word. Return to your rest, O my soul, For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. Psalm 116:7a)
SEE (Lord, YOU open our eyes to behold Your wondrous law. The blind receive sight…Matthew 11:5)
SOJOURN (Lord, Your commandments are our companions while we are strangers in the earth. For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were. Psalm 39:12)
LONG (Lord, Your judgments satiate the human soul. My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord...Psalm 84:2)
YIELD (Lord, Pride – straying from your commands – is cursed. “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6)
PETITION (Lord, You rebuke our proud accusers while we rest in you. Deliver me from all my transgressions; Do not make me the reproach of the foolish. Psalm 39:8)
MEDITATE (Lord, meditating on Your statutes is our defense. Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? Psalm 2:1)
DELIGHT (Lord, Your testimonies are our delight and our counsellors. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:11)
10. In light of all these truths, what should we do, and by whom?
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16
